Dave is nominated: Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards 2007: Wind Instrumentalist category

Thanks to www.radiodirectx.com ' The Hang' will be heard in France, Italy, Scotland, Portugal, Colombia, Germany, Russia, and Australia and from New York to California in the U.S. Here in Canada, it is getting airplay on Maxtrax (Jazz Café), Jazz FM 91.1 and the Wave 94.7.

A bit of feedback:

"Congrats Dave, the music is brilliant.
It sounds like a huge production. I will be playing THE HANG and SLINKY with wild, joyous abandon."

Jaymz Bee - Jazz FM 91.1, Toronto - go to www.jazz.fm

'The Hang has The Thang'
"Dunlop, a veteran Toronto horn player who just recently gigged in the Martin Short show 'Fame Becomes Me', has made superb album full vibey, well played grooves. Released independently 'The Hang' features some of Toronto's more accomplished musicians and it's as good as any major label release by more well known artists like Chris Botti, Chuck Mangione and Rick Braun. Funky without ever trying too hard 'The Hang' makes you move. The stand out track is 'Slinky', with its cool voice samples mixed throughout some catchy breaks. Check out the closing track, Bacharach's 'Alfie' - it's sublime. 'The Hang' shimmies and shuffles along smoothly. It's all chill with a sexy beat. Dinner party or late night listening... with 'The Hang' fame just might come for Dave Dunlop."

Adrian Bell - the Wave 94.7, Hamilton, Ontario - go to www.wave947.fm

"What a great CD! The music is unforgettable. This is what jazz is all about. All the tracks are great. Dave, your CD will be a regular on my radio show, Leon's Jazz In A Box."
Leon Reyes - KVMR 89.5 FM Nevada City/Sacramento, California USA

"This is an excellent example of high quality modern-day fusion, something one does not mind to listen over and over again. The trumpet is always accurate and lets the music flow gently in the ears."

Pascal Dorban - 'Jazz.com' broadcast Radio, ARA, Luxembourg

"An extremely good album with several tracks that I shall be playing on my program, especially tracks 2, 4, 5, 9 and 11. Over time, I'll probably play even more. You've given the fans a lot of good music to choose from. Well done, Dave! All the best"

Harold Ellison - 'The Jazz Cafe' TripleU-FM, Nowra, New South Wales, Australia

"What a great version of Alfie and compare that with Slinky and you'll realise how diverse and talented Dave is. Great sounds that'll gain good rotation here."
Tony Bates - Highlands 100.7 FM

"Great sounding CD, Great tunes, well done Dave"

Larry Larson - Principal Trumpet, Kitchener Symphony Orchestra

"This is an absolutely terrific recording from first to last; I was very impressed with Dave Dunlop's own compositions. The playing was atmospheric and cleverly captures a variety of moods, dependent on the listener's focus and emotion at the time. The arrangements are superb as is the Musicianship, and I especially liked the soulful element in certain tracks. I will assuredly be playing this C.D. in future Programs on our Radio Station."

John Reid - 102.8 FM, Banffshire, Scotland

"This is not "in your face" hard driving music, but rather an "ease back and listen" session with mostly an eighth-note feel". This is not to suggest any lack of energy in the music, which consists mostly of originals by Dave Dunlop, one of Toronto's superior trumpeters, and Jim McGrath who plays keyboards on the recording. The two non-originals, I Can't help It and Alfie feature special guest Doug Riley.

The remainder of the band is made up of some of Toronto's top session players. That's another way of saying that the standard of playing is very high! On guitar, Jim Tait, Steve D'Angelo, David Baxter and Fred Blumas play musical chairs, Pat Kilbride adds his bass to four of the numbers and on a couple of compositions saxophonist John Johnson, always a welcome presence, adds his considerable talents."

Jim Galloway - Wholenote Magazine, Toronto
